"Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider issued this statement to TMZ, following the revelation that the high bidder in an auction to buy the General Lee backed out:

"As the week has progressed, it appears more and more evident that the winning bidder from my 'Bo's General Lee' auction has no intention of coming up with the promised funds. The deadline for deposit was missed on Monday and nobody is more upset or disappointed than I am. I have been on the phone with my lawyer in Century City [Calif.] all week and am taking steps to force compliance of the winning bidder to the rules and regulations of the auction. This may have been the most publicly viewed auction ever! People's word should be their bond."

Dang! That's tough talk from Bo Duke!

John Schneider's personal General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger from the "Dukes of Hazzard," sold today on eBay for a shock-absorbing $9,900,500.00! Car-ching!

The sale marks the second highest finish for an auto auction, the first being the $11 million 1987 sale by Christie's of a 1931 Bugatti originally owned by the Bugatti family. The General Lee was purchased by William Fisher, owner of knifecollectors.com. Schneider, who played Bo Duke in the series, is currently starring in his own family film called "Collier & Co. -- Hot Pursuit!"

Schneider tells TMZ, "It just proves that when you clean out your garage, be very, very careful about what you throw away!"

The eBay page of the General Lee auction received over one million hits during the week-long listing. ON Saturday, Schneider is taking the car for one last spin, to fulfill a Reel Angels wish for an ill child who wanted a ride.

I can not tell you how much I loved The Dukes of Hazard when I was 10. My family frequently went out to dinner on Friday nights after a long week of work and school. While my parents leisurely finished their coffee and dessert, my brother and I would be squirming in our seats and begging, "Pleeeeeaaaaase can't we leave now? The Dukes are on in 20 minutes!"

I was in love with Bo Duke. I thought Daisey Duke was the coolest. I thought Boss Hog was the meanest. I never questioned how Hazzard County, a small backwater place in the middle of nowhere, became the crime capital of the world.

Well, if you felt the way I did, and you have a spare half million sitting around, you could be straight'nin' the curve, and flat'nin' the hills while you run your errands in the original TV version General Lee. It's for sale on ebay. Check it out:
