Made for a Corona ad

I had a really long dream with my dad in it this morning. I love when that happens. I think it may have been a Father's Day visit.

Speaking of Father's Day, if you still don't have a gift, find a place that sells Reef flip flops. How perfect are these?

Kind of like me, these flip flops have a bottle opener built into their sole (read: soul):

Men's version

More practical (or less, depending on your lifestyle), these come with a compartment for carrying keys, credit cards, cash. How "Get Smart".

"The Starter Wife" is...

  1. The name of the nail polish I'm wearing (very sheer pink with a little pearlescence)
  2. The name of the new USA comedy starring Debra Messing and Judy Davis. Thursdays at 9.

Both are mindless summer fun.

Six Week Status Report

I have reached the most important recovery milestone. More significant than the end of brain swelling. More humanizing than the removal of sutures. More enabling than making it up and down the stairs in my apartment.

I have gotten my haircut for the first time in two and a half months. Not an appropriate amount of time to wait for a short-haired girl wishing to avoid Patrick Swayze comparisons.

Last night my hairdresser made the long and lonely trek from the Meatpacking district to my apartment and restored some normalcy to my head. God bless him. He's not only talented, he's compassionate. You can not tell at all that there is a significant chunk of hair missing - completely masqueraded with some clever asymmetrical optical illusions.

Some of you have accused me of exaggerating how bad my hair looked. Perhaps we have different standards - no offense. Thomas said it all when he raised his eyebrows and said, "Well, sweetie, I didn't come too early."

White is the new black

Fashion being contrary as it is, and black being the nail color of choice for winter, of COURSE the new Chanel color for Spring is white. Blanc Ceramic to be exact.

I hobbled out to the spa in my hood with my mom and we both got manicures. So I would be prepared for Spring, I had bought the new Chanel color before my surgery. I'm liking it for the season, but I have to say, the black was much more striking. This just doesn't pack the same punch.

On another note, this is how I know I spend too much money pampering myself. The owner of the spa in my neighborhood sent me flowers to help speed my recovery. How sweet is that!? If you ever find yourself in northern Manhattan and in need of a good facial, stop in to Sava. I love this place:

Scar Treatment Advice?

Anyone have any thoughts on scar treatment?

I think the vitamin E thing has been debunked with research - any other wisdom out there? The one on my head is no big deal - it will be covered with hair eventually. But the one on my stomach is the one I may be able to minimize. It's what I would imagine a c-section scar might be like - but it's much smaller. Any thoughts? (Good thing I'm off the steroids now, or this one would be covered with hair eventually as well. And oh my God, steroids make you hungry! I think I have gained 20 pounds in one week.)
