Chanel: The Ultimate Surgical Accessory

Problem:

How do I clue my rock-star surgeons into the fact that I am (or aspire to be - depending on the day) a stylish fashionista? I am not allowed to wear any accessories into the OR and I will be sporting the worst haircut of my life (even worse than the disastrous perm I had in the 10th grade).

Solution:
Now that they have lifted the surgical nail-polish ban, there can be only one answer: Chanel Black Satin. Just spent the day at Sava (my favorite neighborhood spa) wrapped in a cashmere blanket, drinking a delightful cappuccino, getting my surgical game on.

That is how I roll.....

PS: Update - Some have asked, how disastrous could the perm have been? This is how you can tell I have a brain tumor. I think it's funny to publish this for all the world to see:

This is some seriously big hair; am I the only one who has a problem with this?

Ugh - I just accidentally clicked on the picture of your feet and it expanded to fill my entire screen! Did you have to post a high-res version? Yikes!

lol

Thanks for sending the link to your blog. It is a nice idea, and I appreciate a little better how you guys are coping in the run up to the surgery.

I hope you got my phone message the other day - just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you, Joan. I hope everything goes well, and I'm looking forward to getting together with you guys soon, whenever you are up to it.

And no, Terry, I for one don't have a problem with the hair. I didn't know Joan was such a cute teenager; good to know some things haven't changed! ;-)

REALITY CHECK ----

I just want to point out that that perm followed Joan to college - it was not just a 10th grade thing!

Unfortunately, perms followed quite a few of us to college...

Jamie - I know I have finger toes. They can be frightening - clad in Chanel or not.

Thanks for the thoughts and for your message which, we got - but haven't had a chance to call back, I've been too busy blogging;)

Can't wait to see you very soon.

And let me say for the record, that, yes. The perm continued into college. However, I will stand by the fact that it was never as disastrous as 10th grade. What was going on on the top of my head? If I have time, I will try to find a college picture to show the perm evolution. It may not get posted until next week.

Okay sadly my hair looks like that NOW.
You should send in the mani/pedi pic to Chanel...it could be used as an ad - you have beautiful mitts and dogs.
See you soon, pal.

(From the mind of a 6-year old):

Hi Joan. Get Well Soon. Show that nasty tumor the way out the door. First, scare him out of his wits. Second, if you can, punch him if he doesn't get out of the way.

Joan --

Hope your surgery goes ok.

OK, my turn. When we told the kids about the surgery, the first thing Maggie said was, "Joan the Mother, or Joan the daughter?"

We'll be including you in our prayers -- as much as they count when Rod's involved.

We love you guys and wish we were closer.

p.s. Love the nail color--perfect.

Joan,

Good luck tomorrow and a speedy recovery.

Also, please, please the next time I see you let it be with a massive perm.
